Williamsport Elementary students walk past the Washington County, co-county champion white oak tree that is estimated to be about 275 years old. The Washington County Field Office of the Maryland Forest Service & the Western Maryland RC&D have established a relationship to educate students at the Green School about their two champion oak trees and the important role trees and forests play in our environment. Each spring 3rd Grade students plant tree seedlings in a field behind the school as part of countywide Earth Day activities.
