As a Support Services Specialist, Elizabeth contributes to conservation in Maryland through her work with applicant eligibility and payment processing. Helping applicants become eligible according to USDA policy enables their participation in programs and ensures they are able to complete conservation activities in a way that benefits themselves and the environment. Processing payments allows producers to recoup money spent implementing conservation practices, as well as acting as incentive to participate in future programs. This work encourages farmers and landowners to perform conservation activities that they may not have done without NRCS’s assistance.
